TAIPEI, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Four people tested positive for COVID-19 in Taiwan on Monday, raising the island's total number of COVID-19 cases to 462, the local epidemic monitoring agency said.

Three of the new patients had returned from Africa via Dubai and were sent to the hospital upon their arrival at the airport, the agency said in a press release.

The last one, returning from the United States, developed suspicious symptoms while in quarantine at home, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the agency was informed that a Thai citizen, who had worked in Taiwan and went back to Thailand on July 21, tested positive for COVID-19 on July 25.

The source of the infection and close contacts of the Thai case are under investigation and it can not be ruled out that the infection source was in Taiwan, the agency said. Enditem
