Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has grown into modernized armed forces, official of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait says during an online celebration of PLA's 93rd founding anniversary.

KUWAIT CITY, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Kuwait held on Thursday an online celebration of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Xue Chuanlai, defense attache of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, said over the 93 years the PLA has grown into modernized armed forces and written a glorious chapter in modern history.

In the face of the coronavirus outbreak, the Chinese armed forces have been actively engaging in international cooperation with foreign counterparts to prevent and control it, Xue said.

"In June, the Chinese and Kuwaiti military medical experts held a video conference to discuss COVID-19 response and exchange experiences, illustrating again that our friendship can withstand the test of time and will be always full of vitality," he noted.

Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang said the recent years have witnessed fast growing cooperation between the Chinese and Kuwaiti armies which has become an important part of bilateral relations.

"This year has witnessed the ever-stronger China-Kuwait strategic partnership and mutual beneficial cooperation in our joint fight against COVID-19 pandemic," Li noted.

China and Kuwait have stood firmly together and demonstrated solidarity and partnership through mutual support in face of the coronavirus, the Chinese ambassador said.

During the critical moment in China's battle against the epidemic, Kuwait extended a helping hand and donated medical supplies to China, and in return, China has provided necessary facilitation to Kuwait in procuring medical supplies from China, he said.

Furthermore, China dispatched a medical expert team to aid Kuwait's COVID-19 response efforts, and invited officials and medical experts of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health and the Kuwaiti Army to attend several video conferences held by the Chinese side to discuss COVID-19 response and exchange experience, Li noted.

Participating in the online celebration, Mohammad Ahmad Al-Khodar, assistant chief of staff for Kuwait's National Service, hailed the relations between armies of the two countries.

"We will continue to strengthen our friendly cooperation with the Chinese People's Liberation Army and exchange experiences and information to enhance our relations to a new level," he said.
