ULAN BATOR, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia reported two new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 293, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Sunday.

"A total of 455 tests for COVID-19 were conducted across the country yesterday and two of them were positive," Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the NCCD's Surveillance Department, said at a daily press conference.

The latest two cases were servicemen of the Mongolian Armed Forces, who returned home from Afghanistan on a chartered flight in mid-July, said Ambaselmaa.

All the confirmed cases in the country were imported, mostly from Russia, and no local transmissions or deaths were reported, according to the authorities. Enditem
