Afghanistan reports 36 new COVID-19 cases, 36,782 in total

KABUL, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Tuesday reported 36 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total to 36,782, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.

The ministry said in a statement that during the past 24 hours, 187 tests were conducted, of which 15 positive COVID-19 cases are from western Herat province and 21 positive ceases are from capital Kabul.

A total of 1,288 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February, and no deaths were reported within the past 24 hours.

Of the total infected people, 25,556 have recovered and showed improvement and were discharged from hospitals since February.

Laboratories across Afghanistan have completed 89,547 tests during the past six months. Enditem
