HANGZHOU, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A perovskite photovoltaic cell production line has gone into production in Quzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

The 40-hectare factory is invested by Microquanta Semiconductor and expected to produce more than 200,000 square meters of photovoltaic glass before year-end.

Perovskite photovoltaic cells are a new type of synthetic photovoltaic product, with an excellent photoelectric conversion rate. They also have the advantages of abundant raw material, low cost and environmental friendliness.

The perovskite material can be made into extremely thin and soft solar cells that are installed on vehicles, mobile phones, roofs and glass walls.

The wide use of perovskite photovoltaic cells will halve the cost of power generation, said Yan Buyi, vice president of Microquanta Semiconductor. The color of the new material is also controllable, thus the photovoltaic power generation module can be tailored according to individual needs. Enditem
