PHNOM PENH, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Wednesday confirmed two new imported COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 243, said a Health Ministry's statement.
One case was detected on a 42-year-old Kazakhstani woman, who arrived in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Monday from Kazakhstan via a connecting flight in South Korea, the statement said.
"The woman's samples were tested and the result showed Tuesday that she was positive for the COVID-19," it said. "Currently, she has been admitted to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in the capital for treatment."
According to the statement, 28 other passengers on the same flight have been placed under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at a hotel in Phnom Penh.
The other case was found on a 34-year-old Cambodian man, who arrived in the kingdom recently from Pakistan via a connecting flight in Malaysia, and the man turned out to be positive for the virus during his second test on Tuesday.
The man has been hospitalized at the Chak Angre Health Center in southern Phnom Penh for treatment, said the statement.
The Southeast Asian nation has so far recorded a total of 243 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 202 patients cured and 41 remaining in hospital. Enditem
