WINDHOEK, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 17th edition of the Namibia Annual Sport Awards (NASA) has been postponed to next year due to COVID-19 pandemic, Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) chief administrator Freddy Mwiya announced here on Wednesday.

The NASA awards for 2020 were scheduled for October and will now be taking place in October of next year.

Mwiya said the stakeholders of NASA were informed before the announcement was made publicly.

"Unfortunately, the sporting industry has seen unimaginable disruptions and our athletes and officials are under tremendous pressure, stress and anxiety and their mental health should the highest priority," said Mwiya.

"This situation calls into question of the authenticity of hosting a realistic NASA," the chief administrator added. Enditem
