BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.26 percent, at 3,386.46 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.7 percent lower at 13,863.13 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indexes expanded to 1.29 trillion yuan (about 185.8 billion U.S. dollars) from 1.2 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 813 to 584 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,409 to 770 in Shenzhen.
Stocks related to digital currency led the gains, with shares of Hebei Huijin Electromechanical Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to 12.86 yuan.
Companies in the brewery and biopharmaceutical industries were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.6 percent to close at 2,814.37 points Thursday. Enditem
