LONDON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.27 percent, or 77.78 points, to close at 6,026.94 points.
Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, soared 7.84 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Aviva and ITV increased by 4.64 percent and 3.94 percent, respectively.
Glencore, an Anglo-Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 8.08 percent.
