TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as disappointing earnings reports from Japanese companies dented sentiment amid a cautious mood ahead of the release of key U.S. jobs data for July later in the day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 88.21 points, or 0.39 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,329.94.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.14 points, or 0.20 percent, to finish at 1,546.74.
Nonferrous metal, metal product, and chemical issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. Enditem
