Bangladesh's COVID-19 cases cross 250,000, death toll reaches 3,333

DHAKA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's COVID-19 cases rose to 252,502 on Friday with 2,851 new cases reported, and deaths from the virus increased to 3,333.

Senior Health Ministry official Nasima Sultana said in a briefing on Friday that "2,851 new COVID-19 positive cases and 27 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

"The number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 252,502 while fatalities stood at 3,333," she said.

According to the official, 12,699 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in labs across the country.

She said the total number of recovered patients in the country stands at 145,584 with 1,760 new recoveries.

According to the official, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.32 percent and the current recovery rate is 57.66 percent. Enditem
