BEIRUT, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Friday that it is mobilizing assistance to support its staff and refugees affected by Lebanon's deadly blasts.

The UNHCR said that several of its staff, family members and volunteers who help refugees were injured by the huge explosions that hit Port of Beirut on Tuesday, said a statement by the agency.

The UNHCR noted that areas hosting refugees have been affected by the explosions, but the agency has not yet confirmed the extent of any fatalities or injuries among the refugee community.

"We are making available our stocks of shelter kits in the country, plastic sheets, rub halls, and tens of thousands of other core relief items including blankets and mattresses for immediate distribution and use. Additional stockpiles in the region will come in reinforcement," it said.

Two huge explosions rocked Port of Beirut on Tuesday at around 6:10 p.m. local time (1510 GMT), shaking buildings all over Lebanon's capital while causing heavy damage in the city, killing 154 people and injuring 5,000 with dozens of people still missing under the rubble. Enditem
