SANTO DOMINGO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Dominican Republic on Saturday reported a total of 78,778 novel coronavirus cases with 1,289 deaths.
The previous day saw 1,069 new cases of infection and 30 more fatalities, the Public Health Ministry said.
Of those diagnosed with the virus, 6,702 have been hospitalized, 317 patients require intensive care, and 28,249 have been told to self-isolate at home.
