Armenia's COVID-19 cases top 41,000

YEREVAN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Armenia reported 229 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing its total to 41,023, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control.

Data from the center showed that 405 more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,897.

Meanwhile, three people died in the period, raising the death toll to 809.

The center said over 180,497 people have been tested for COVID-19 since the country reported its first case on March 1.

The government has injected 144.5 billion drams (300 million U.S. dollars) into its economy as part of relief programs to minimize the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said. Enditem
