DAMASCUS, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Two U.S. soldiers were wounded in a quarrel with Russian soldiers in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah, a war monitor reported on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Tuesday when Russian and U.S. patrols came face-to-face in the countryside of Hasakah province, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The UK-based watchdog group said a U.S. patrol was roaming in the countryside of Hasakah when a collision occurred with a Russian patrol, which intercepted and set off in pursuit of the U.S. patrol in the countryside of Al-Malikiyah city in Hasakah countryside.

It said the situation developed to quarrel between both sides without weapon clashes.

The Observatory said the incident is part of the tension between both sides as their confrontations are becoming almost a daily occurrence during the patrols in northeastern Syria. Enditem
