JAKARTA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Police in Indonesia's province of East Java have seized 6.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine put in milk drink boxes from a network in Malaysia, a police officer in East Java's capital of Surabaya said on Monday.
"The police and the customs office in East Java's area of Tanjung Perak have earlier received information about packages containing crystal methamphetamine from abroad which would be sent to Sampang district in Madura island, East Java, by sea," the East Java Police's spokesman Senior Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said.
The police have also arrested two suspects identified as L and H who are the residents of the Sampang district, Andiko said, adding that the suspects are couriers and users of the contraband.
"The modus is similar with those conducted before. They use expedition services and appoint couriers who are required to take and send goods to certain addresses," he disclosed.
East Java still becomes a destination of crystal methamphetamine, he said, calling on local people not to try consuming the illicit goods to save the younger generation as this crime recognizes no social status, education and families.
If found guilty, the two suspects shall face life sentence or death penalty, he said. Enditem
