Kyrgyzstan's COVID-19 cases top 44,000

BISHKEK, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's tally of COVID-19 cases reached 44,036 on Wednesday, with 78 new cases reported in the last day.

Deputy Minister of Health Nurbolot Usenbaev told a news briefing that 246 people have recovered over the past day, bringing the total recoveries to 38,895.

The virus-related death tally remained 1,060, with no new deaths reported in the previous 24 hours.

Currently, 670 patients are still in hospitals throughout the country and 4,799 patients are receiving treatment at home.

Usenbaev also said that Kyrgyzstan has conducted 320,000 PCR tests for COVID-19 so far, including 1,500 tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

"The introduction of quarantine, strengthening of sanitary standards and other measures helped us to keep and stabilize the situation in time," he said.
