BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- The COVID-19 pandemic situation continues to peak in India as the highest single-day spike of 90,632 new cases, and 1,065 deaths, were registered from across the country, according to the latest data released by the federal health ministry on Sunday.
The country's COVID-91 tally rose to 4,113,811, as the total deaths surged to 70,626.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 167 more cases of the COVID-19 as of 0:00 a.m. Sunday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,177.
The daily caseload stayed below 200 for four straight days, but it continued to grow in triple digits since Aug. 14.
It was attributed to cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province linked to church services and a massive rally held in central Seoul on Aug. 15.

SAO PAULO -- With 682 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, Brazil's death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 126,203, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a total of 4,123,000 COVID-19 cases have so far been reported nationwide, up by 30,168 from a day earlier.

BOGOTA -- Colombia registered 8,394 new COVID-19 cases and 268 more deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total to 658,456 cases and 21,156 fatalities, the Health Ministry said Saturday.
Meanwhile, a total of 507,770 patients have recovered from the disease.

BEIJING -- No new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said Sunday.
Ten confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported Saturday, the commission said in its daily report.
Two new suspected COVID-19 cases, all imported, were reported in Shanghai.

YANGON -- Myanmar reported one more COVID-19 death on Sunday morning, bringing the death toll in the country to eight, according to a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.
A 46-year-old patient with underlying Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and diabetes tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and died of acute respiratory failure due to pneumonia at 2:55 p.m. local time on the same day, the release said.

LONDON -- About 96 percent of adults who had left their homes said they had worn a face covering to slow the spread of the coronavirus, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The highest level was in Scotland where 98 percent said they had worn a face covering outside of their home at least once in the past week, while in England it was 97 percent and in Wales 73 percent. All three regions had seen an increase in the reporting of face coverings being worn over the past two months. ■
