Bangladesh COVID-19 cases reach 344,264, over 250,000 cured so far

DHAKA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh reported 1,593 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the total to 344,264, with more than half of the patients having recovered.

According to the official data from Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), fatalities stood at 4,859 including 36 fresh deaths during the last 24 hours.

It said 13,673 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 250,412 including 2,443 new recoveries on Thursday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.41 percent and the current recovery rate is 72.74 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 4,019 on July 2 and the highest number of deaths of 64 on June 30. Enditem
