JUBA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- A major Chinese construction firm has announced plans to expand its footprints in South Sudan after it recently completed the landmark project of modernization in the east African nation's only major referral health facility the Juba Teaching Hospital.

Zhou Jin Long, an executive from the China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG), said the glittering new buildings constructed by his firm since October 2017, include gynecology and obstetrics, outpatient and emergency wards, will help boost health care provision in the youngest nation which has been lacking modern health facilities.

"If there is any opportunity we get in South Sudan we shall take it up. We have just finished phase one of the expansion but we are hoping to start the next phase of modernizing Juba Teaching Hospital," Zhou told Xinhua on Monday in Juba.

Zhou said this project was the first construction project handed to CRCEG and hopes the good work done by them will inspire trust and confidence for other big projects in South Sudan.

"This program is supported by China Aid so whatever the South Sudan government needs then it can talk with the Chinese government and then they can offer tender and make Chinese company like us to help them like this," he disclosed.

The magnificent buildings that have given much-needed facelift to the once decaying Juba Teaching Hospital sit on radius of 13,450 square meters.

He also revealed that they have trained several South Sudanese in the various fields of construction, electricity and engineering which will help the country's locals to maintain the facilities in future.

CRCEG employs over 200 local staff in Juba which has enabled them to complete work on Sept.28.

Zhou said that with continued support from the Chinese government toward South Sudan, they remain willing to contribute toward improving the infrastructure in South Sudan.
