TUNIS, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The number of illegal Tunisian immigrants to Europe decreased in 2019, Tunisian Forum of Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) announced Monday.

A total of 3,545 Tunisians arrived at the European coasts this year, compared to 6,006 in 2018, said Romdhane Ben Amor who is in charge of information at the FTDES.

Ben Amor added that 4,625 illegal immigrants have been prevented from leaving for the Italian coast, 69 percent of whom are Tunisians.

According to the FTDES, one reason for the decrease in illegal immigration flows to the European coasts from Tunisia is the use of new technologies to intercept such operations.
