ALGIERS, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Algeria's new President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday said that discussions will start for drafting a new constitution to pave the way for the establishment of a new Algeria based on the rule of law.
Upon his inauguration as 8th president of Algeria, Tebboune addressed the nation, saying that "as I said in my electoral program, I will start by drafting a new constitution for the country, in a bid to establish the rule of law and equal opportunities that will be the essence of the new Algeria."
He added that "the discussions will start in a couple of months, or even the forthcoming weeks."
The new constitution will set the pillars for the new Algeria, he reiterated.
"I'm committed to setting radical change of the governing system, through deepening democracy and the rule of law, reinforcing social justice, and protecting human rights," he added.
The electoral law will be reviewed ahead of holding early parliamentary and local polls.
Tebboune further called on Algerians to accept dialogue as a sole mean to solve emerging problems and issues, referring to the 10-month-long protest.
"We are all brothers and all are equal under the law, and we have to put hands in hands for the sake of building of the new Algeria based on the rule of law and equal opportunities," Tebboune stated.
Economically, Tebboune voiced his will to establish diversified economy that generates jobs and wealth.
He further pledged to curb mounting imports bill, as part of the efforts aiming at boosting national products and safeguarding foreign reserves.
