Jackson death ‘his own fault’
MICHAEL Jackson was responsible for his own death, a court heard yesterday — as the jury finally retired to consider its verdict.
The star’s family is suing concert promoters AEG Live for £1billion.
In closing arguments at the end of the six-month case, AEG lawyer Marvin Putnam said: “You can’t blame someone else for his bad choices.”
The singer, 50, died in 2009 of an overdose of the anaesthetic Propofol.
Brian Panish, for the Jacksons, told the court in Los Angeles that AEG hired Conrad Murray, who gave Jackson the drug, as his doctor without consideration of whether he was fit for the job.
Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death.
