A TODDLER had a five-hour operation to BREAK apart his skull and piece it back together — just like a JIGSAW.
Ethan Mair, two, was born with craniosynostosis — a rare condition which causes the skull to fuse, meaning pressure builds up on the brain.
Without the op Ethan could have had brain damage, eye, speech and walking problems.
Surgeons at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital broke his skull, reshaped it and put it back.
Ethan is back home in Gosport, Hants, and won’t need any more ops, Proud mum Ashlea, 24, said: “He’s been left with a big zig-zag scar across his scalp, but that’s slowly being hidden with a full head of hair. Just seeing him smile is incredible.”
