Thank God: There's Finally an App That Lets You Escape Group Texts
When it comes to group texts, nothing is more infuriating than being trapped in an endless barrage vibrations signaling nothing more than a "lol" or the occasional poop emoji. But until now, there was no convenient way to put an end to the madness without either A) blocking your friends or B) insulting them to the point that they cut off contact. GroupXiT fixes that.
The app is actually pretty ingenious in its design. Rather than existing as another messaging system entirely, GroupXit simply pulls the group threads you're currently in from your native messaging app, allowing you to choose which threads you'd like to remove from sight and even which individual friends ("friends") you'd like to silence. And don't worry about missing something important; you can opt to receive an alert for certain keywords.
Unfortunately, because it only works on SMS/MMS messaging (and not Apple's iMessage protocol), the app is only available for Android, with an iPhone version coming—well, probably never. And though GroupXit is free to download, you get six trial exits before you're forced to pay up $2 to keep going. But considering all the frustration and inane "kk"s you'll be saved from, it's a steal. [GroupXit via BetaBeat]
