FUZHOU, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Marine police in south China's Fujian Province said Saturday that they had recently seized some 700 tonnes of smuggled oil products in waters near the city of Ningde.

During a patrol operation, the police intercepted a suspicious tanker trying to flee their pursuit. Onboard inspection showed that the tanker was unable to provide any certificate of the vessel or the oil products it carried.

The police also seized 160,000 yuan (about 22,648 U.S. dollars) of cash from the tanker.

Further investigation is underway.
