The Internet opens a wider channel for locals to connect with the outside world and makes "cliffside village" a new tourist destination with the efforts of local vlogger Labo in southwest China's Sichuan.

CHENGDU, Dec. 8, 2019 (Xinhua) -- A lad named Mouse Labo finds his new life in the development of his hometown, Atulie'er Village.

Atulie'er Village is a famous "cliffside village" in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan. In the past, villagers here had no access to roads. When going out, they had to climb down an 800-meter-high cliff by a rotten ladder. In 2016, a 2,556-steps steel ladder replaced the rotten ladder, significantly improving the travel conditions for locals.

The Internet opened another wider channel for local villagers to connect with the outside world. Mouse Labo in 2017 started to record his daily life, such as herding the sheep, passing the suspension bridges and climbing the cliffs, with a mobile phone and posted them on live-broadcasting platforms. He became famous on the Internet in a very short time.

In early 2018, the village, with its unique geographical features, made efforts to develop its rural tourism, which helped increasing local villagers' incomes. Mouse Labo, with his excellent climbing skills, was employed by a tourist company and became a tour guide.

Today, Mouse Labo is still recording the changes taking place in the "cliffside village" with his mobile phone. Posted on the Internet, these videos are introducing the special village to the outside world as it becomes a famous tourist destination.
