KABUL, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Thursday reported 232 new confirmed COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 2,171, according to the country's Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry said in a statement that the new coronavirus cases, the highest daily increase since the outbreak of the pandemic in mid-February, were registered in 10 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces.
Three COVID-19 male patients, two in western Herat province and one in national capital Kabul, died during the period, taking the national death toll to 64, according to the statistics of the ministry.
Four patients were discharged from hospitals in Kabul, bringing the number of recovered people across the country to 260, according to the statement. Enditem
