ANKARA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Two Turkish social workers delivering aid for people amid the COVID-19 outbreak were killed in a "terror attack" in the eastern Van province, local government said Thursday.
Gunmen fired rifles at the humanitarian aid workers from the Vefa Social Support Group, which is linked to the Interior Ministry, said the governorate in a written statement.
Security forces immediately launched a large-scale operation for hunting the attackers following the incident.
Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun later tweeted that the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) was responsible for the attack. Enditem
