XI'AN, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Three people died in a landslide that knocked down a residential building in northwest China's Shaanxi Province Monday, local authorities said Tuesday.

A woman and two children, a boy and a girl, were found dead in the debris at around 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, the emergency rescue headquarters in Baihe County said in a statement.

The building in the mountainous Maoping Township of Baihe County collapsed in the landslide at 11:58 a.m. Monday, according to the local government. Rainstorms pounded the area over the weekend.

The seven-story building was home to 39 people from 11 families, and seven of them were trapped in the debris.

Late Monday, a 60-year-old woman was pulled from the rubbles. She was sent to a local hospital and her conditions were stable.

Rescuers are searching for the three missing residents.
