HANOI, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Some of the key power transmission projects, worth a total of 1.1 trillion Vietnamese dong (48.4 million U.S. dollars), built to ensure power supply for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in Vietnam this year, have been completed.

Members of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Group, the Central Power Corporation (EVN CPC), the National Power Transmission Corporation, and Power Company Limited of Vietnam's central Da Nang city, where the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held, worked together to carry out these projects, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA on Friday.

Specifically, one 220-kV, five 110-kV and two medium-voltage transmission lines have been completed to date while the construction of five other 110-kV and four medium-voltage lines has been sped up in an attempt to put them into use before August.

Locations for APEC events such as Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort, Furama Resort, Pullman Resort, Olalani Resort, Sheraton Hotel, Novotel Hotel, Tien Son Sports Palace, Da Nang City Administration Centre and Da Nang International Airport will be prioritized for power supply, reported VNA.

Vietnam will host about 200 APEC events across 10 major cities, with the biggest being the APEC week in Da Nang in November. This year marks the second time Vietnam will host the APEC meetings following the first in 2006.
