PARIS, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, president of Debout la France and sixth place in the first round of the French presidential election, announced Friday that he would back far-right frontrunner Marne Le Pen in second round on May 7.

"This evening, I officially announce that I support Ms. Le Pen. I will even campaign with her on an enlarged government project," Dupont-Aignan told state-run France TV.

Dupont-Aignan, who scored 4.7 percent of votes or 1.69 million votes in the first round, said he had signed an accord with Le Pen, candidate of the Front National party, on the future of the government with "an evolution" of her program.

An Odoxa poll released earlier on Friday predicted Le Pen to lose to her centrist rival Emmanuel Macron 41 percent against 59 percent.
