NEW DELHI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Marine Security Agency (PMSA) have arrested 30 Indian fishermen, India's official broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) said Thursday.
The fishermen were captured off the Gujarat coast on Wednesday along with their five fishing boats.
"All these fishermen have been apprehended by Pakistani security agency from the International Maritime boundary line in the Arabian Sea, off the Jakhau coast," the broadcaster said. "The fishermen have been taken to Karachi port and will be produced before court today."
According to AIR, the latest arrests have put the number of Indian fishermen detained this year by Pakistan to 304.
The fishermen arrests have come at a time when tension between the two neighbors have escalated over flare-up on the Line of Control in Kashmir.
Last week, Pakistani authorities detained 29 Indian fishermen under similar circumstances.
Fishermen of two countries are often jailed for accidentally crossing into each other's territory. The fishermen from two countries traverse poorly defined boundary in the international waters as most fishing boats lack technologies to locate exact positions.
