MAIMANA, Afghanistan, May 20 (Xinhua) -- At least eight Taliban fighters including two local commanders were killed after their positions came under aircraft attacks in Almar district of the northern Faryab province Saturday.
Army spokesman in the northern region Nasratullah Jamshidi said that the sorties were conducted early Saturday against Taliban hideouts in parts of Almar district.
Five more insurgents had been injured in the raids, the official added.
Taliban militants are yet to make comments.
