Several feared dead as school bus falls into gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir

NEW DELHI, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Several students are feared killed after a school bus rolled off a road and fell into a deep gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir Thursday.

Local media reported that the accident occurred near Mughal Road in Rajouri when some 40 students of Garib Nawaz School, a private school, were returning in the bus after a school picnic.

The bus was on its way to from Manjakote to Peer Ki Gali when the driver lost control of the bus, leading to the accident, according to reports.

"Chances of anyone alive in the accident are rare. Rescuers have reached the spot," a senior police official was quoted as saying.
