SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Indian army Friday claimed it has foiled an attack from border action team (BAT) along Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir.
The attack as per Indian army officials was foiled in Uri sector of frontier Baramulla district, about 105 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
According to Indian army spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia, two BAT militants were killed.
"A BAT action against Indian army patrol along LoC in Uri sector was today foiled," Kalia said. "Two BAT militants were killed and search operation in the area is going on."
No independent confirmation could be made about the incident owing to its occurrence in remote area.
The situation along LoC is tense since the beginning of this month. Several cease-fire violations and civilian killings were reported on both the sides of LoC.
