ANKARA, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish military helicopter crashed after hitting high voltage lines in eastern province of Sirnak late Wednesday, according to a statement release by the Sirnak government.
The helicopter hit high voltage lines after three minutes from taking off, the statement said.
"The Cougar type helicopter belonging to our military was tangled to high tension power lines," it said.
The accident happened in Senoba district, near the Turkey-Iraq border, local media reported.
A large number of rescue teams have been dispatched to the accident area.
