TOKYO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- A single-engine propeller plane with four people on board crashed in a mountainous area in Toyama prefecture of central Japan on Saturday afternoon, local police said.
Search for the crashed plane and people on board the plane was suspended due to the low temperature at night in the mountainous area and will be restarted on Sunday morning, said the police.
The Cessna 172 plane took off from Toyama Airport around 2:23 p.m. local time (0523 GMT) and was scheduled to reach Matsumoto Airport in neighboring Nagano prefecture in about an hour, said local reports.
The police received an emergency phone call around 3:00 p.m. local time from a man, who was believed to be one of the passengers on the crashed plane, said the reports.
The man reportedly told the police that four people, including the pilot, were on board the aircraft and two of them were unconscious.
The police have been trying to recontact the cellphone of the man, but got no answer.
