BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Vice President Li Yuanchao Monday called for efforts to foster young Marxists with firm beliefs in the Communist Party of China (CPC) in colleges around the country.

Li made the remarks during a conference jointly held by the Central Committee of China's Communist Youth League (CYL) and the Ministry of Education.

Li called for deepened reform on youth leagues in colleges and improved ideological and political work on campus, stressing that the CPC's leadership over these organizations should be upheld.

The CYL should promote education on socialist core values among college students, Li said, noting that efforts should be made to build an online platform for youth leagues.

Since its founding in 1922, the CYL has been regarded as a bridge linking the nation's youth with the Party. It also plays a fundamental role as an assistant and talent reserve for the CPC.
