MADRID, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Concern is rising in Spain over the whereabouts of a Spanish national who went missing following the terrorist attack on London Bridge, which claimed seven lives and injured 48 others.

Ignacio Echeverria, 39, remains missing since Saturday attack. It was confirmed by his friends and family that he was in the London Bridge area when the attack happened.

One of his friends told the "El Pais" newspaper that he had seen Echeverria try to help a woman who was being stabbed, as they were returning from skating in a nearby park.

"He jumped off his bike and hit the attacker with his skateboard," explained the friend to the newspaper, recalling the last time the native of Madrid was seen, he was "lying on the ground... he was brave, trying to save the woman."

Friends and family lost contacts with Echeverria since then despite all efforts, including giving information to Spanish diplomatic sources, the British police, health services and the HSBC bank where he works.

Echeverria's family explained that he was probably not carrying any identification at the time of the attack, and although they know he is not among the seven fatalities, they have been unable to get confirmation as to whether or not he was injured.
