Host Tianjin's young bridge players unbeatable at China's National Games

TIANJIN, China, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Host Tianjin's young bridge players proved their dominance at China's National Games here on Friday, keeping unbeaten record in the preliminaries of the Youth Group.

Tianjin earned 186.54 vps in 11 rounds and will face Guangdong in the semis. Beijing followed Tianjin at the second place in the preliminaries and will meet Shandong in the semis.

In the Open Group, Guangdong locked a semis berth in the last round by beating Jiangsu 22-17 Imps (International match points). Guangdong, which ranked fourth among 12 teams, will take on Hebei in the semifinals, while host Tianjin will play against Fujian.

In the women's group, the top four teams are Gansu, Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai.

The bridge tournament of China's 13th National Games, which has six gold medals up for grab, will conclude on July 10. The tournament features six groups -- Open, Women, Youth, Pairs, Women Pairs and Youth Pairs.
