New anti-helicopter mine, multipurpose aircraft to appear at Russia's aviation salon

MOSCOW, July 14 (Xinhua) -- A new anti-helicopter mine and a prototype of the light multipurpose aircraft will be showcased at the coming International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS, Russia's national research center Zhukovsky Institute said here Thursday.

According to the statement, the new type of mine, called the "Helicopter Killer", has acoustic radars which can detect targets at a distance of up to 400 meters.

The mine is designed to strike helicopters operating at the height of up to 100 meters.

Prototypes of a high-speed civil aircraft, a supersonic business and passenger aircraft as well as a heavy transport aircraft with an integrated circuit will also be represented at the exhibition.

The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS will be held in the Russian city of Zhukovsky on July 18-23. The event is aimed at demonstrating the achievements of the Russian high-tech companies and their openness for joint projects with foreign partners.
