KHARTOUM, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's monthly inflation rate dropped to 32.63 percent in June compared with around 35.52 percent in May, said a report by Sudan's Central Bureau of Statistics Tuesday.

The bureau attributed the decline to lower prices of consumption and service commodities.

"The inflation percentage for the consumption and service commodities has declined to 28.98 percent from 31.53 percent in May," it said.

Since the Sudanese finance ministry has partially lifted the government subsidies on fuel, electricity and medicines in November last year, Sudan's monthly inflation continued to rise.

The Sudanese economy has been suffering from difficulties as a result of the secession of South Sudan, which caused the country to lose three quarters of its oil wealth, which caused the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to urge Sudan to adopt emergency procedures to face the challenges. Enditem
