TOKYO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the upper 109 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Tuesday, rising from its level seen overnight in London.
As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.78-79 yen compared with 109.45-55 yen at 4 p.m. in London and 109.47-49 yen at 5 p.m. local time on Monday in Tokyo.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1893-1893 dollars and 130.56-57 yen against 1.1905-1915 dollars and 130.40-45 yen in London and 1.1899-1900 dollars and 130.26-30 yen in late Monday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
Financial markets in the United States were closed on Monday for a national holiday.
