China fixed-asset investment up 7.8 pct in first eight months

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's fixed-asset investment grew 7.8 percent year on year in the first eight months of this year, down from 8.3 percent for the January-July period, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.
