On Tuesday, Liu also met with Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
Liu said that China-Vietnam ties in general have enjoyed sound momentum of development in recent years.
The close contacts between the two party chiefs have demonstrated the two countries' resolution of cementing traditional friendship and win-win cooperation, he said.
The Chinese side will always treat and manage the state-to-state relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective, he said, expressing China's willingness of increasing political trust and deepening strategic coordination and cooperation with Vietnam.
Friendly and solid people-to-people ties are indispensable for the healthy and stable development of China-Vietnam relationship, said Liu, expecting the National Assembly of Vietnam to play an active role in cementing the friendship between the two peoples.
China will work with Vietnam to build up more platforms for non-governmental and cultural exchanges, and enrich the forms and channels of friendly exchanges between the two peoples, said Liu.
Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that Vietnam will implement the important consensus reached by Xi and Trong, and will place diplomacy as the priority when developing the state-to-state ties.
Ngan said that maintaining bilateral traditional friendship is a firm policy of Vietnam.
Vietnam's National Assembly will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's National People's Congress in various fields and make contributions to consolidating the people-to-people ties, she said.
