AMMAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- A joint Jordanian-Kenyan military exercise started in Jordan Monday as part of the efforts to enhance bilateral military cooperation.

The training, attended by high ranking officers from both countries, is part of cooperation between the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Kenyan army, the Jordanian army said in a statement.

The training, which will last for two weeks, will help promote the exchange of expertise, address various threats and challenges, and increase the preparedness of the two armies to face various situations, the statement said.

In September 2016, a joint military drill was held in Kenya during a visit by King Abdullah II of Jordan to the African country.

Jordan is keen on entering African markets through Kenya and boosting cooperation with African countries in various areas.
