HOUSTON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were injured Friday in an explosion in the underground electrical room at the Whitehall Hotel in downtown Houston, Texas, the United States, according to the Houston Fire Department (HFD).

One worker has been taken to the Hospital with life-threatening injures while the other one suffered burns to the hands, HFD said.

HFD said electrical contractors, who were working for the Whitehall Hotel, were replacing a breaker in an underground electrical room when the breaker exploded.

Crews of HFD were responding to the hotel and smoke damage can be seen on the side of the building of the hotel.
