Macao's forex reserves reach 19.54 bln USD at end of October

MACAO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Macao's foreign exchange reserves reached 156.9 billion patacas (19.54 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of October, the special administrative region (SAR)'s monetary watchdog said on Wednesday.

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced that the preliminary estimate of Macao's foreign exchange reserves decreased by 0.5 percent from the revised value of 157.7 billion patacas (19.64 billion dollars) for the previous month.

The SAR's foreign exchange reserves at the end of October 2017 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 87.2 percent of pataca M2 at the end of September 2017.

The trade-weighted effective exchange rate index for the pataca rose 1.00 point month-to-month but fell 2.31 points year-on-year to 104.6 in October.
