ABUJA, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Terror group Boko Haram has beheaded six local farmers in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, according to sources on Monday.

The killings occurred Sunday at the Dimge Plantation in Mafa area of the state, one source said.

Usman Muhammed, a member of the local civilian volunteer force, told Xinhua the terrorists stormed the area on motorbikes. The victims were working on their farms.

Nigerian security authorities are yet to confirm the killings.

Boko Haram has been blamed for the death of more than 20,000 people and displacement of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since 2009.
